April 1st is usually a day to be funny of patch notes. ArenaNet knows that. They said it themselves, no fake notes this time. And honestly? This update is the real deal.
Guild Wars: Reforged just dropped a significant update. A new pre-Searing dungeon. Devona as a playable hero. Inventory QoL that should have been in the game years ago. And 30+ Extra Life pets finally arriving in-game. Let’s break it all down.

New Prophecies Dungeon in Pre-Searing
This is the headline feature of the patch. A brand new dungeon — set in pre-Searing Ascalon — is now live in Reforged mode.
To get there, you need to be in Reforged mode and have completed Bastion in the North. From there, travel through the Northlands to reach Piken Square. Talk to Mullenix inside to start the quest chain.
Once you’ve finished it, the dungeon becomes repeatable. Good news for farmers.
A post-Searing version is confirmed for a future update. No timeline yet, but it’s coming.
Devona Is Now a Hero
Devona, the Warrior henchman you’ve probably taken on a hundred missions — can now be unlocked as a proper hero. You have two options:
- Complete the new Forsaken Tunnels pre-Searing dungeon in Reforged mode, or
- Talk to her in Lion’s Arch
The Lion’s Arch route is the easier option if you’re not in Reforged mode or haven’t finished the dungeon yet.
One known issue to be aware of: Reforged mode is still in Alpha. In some missions, you can end up with both the hero and henchman versions of Devona in your party. ArenaNet is aware of it and working on a fix.
Nostalgia Mode: The April Fool’s Feature
Okay, so there is one April Fools thing. And it’s actually kind of great.
A new graphics setting called Nostalgia Mode has been added. It emulates an old-school CRT monitor at a glorious 800×600 resolution. If you used to play Guild Wars on a chunky monitor in the mid-2000s, this will hit different.
Turn it on today specifically and the login screen logo changes to Guild Wars Deforged. That’s the joke. And I respect it.
The Nostalgia Mode setting itself will stay in the game after April Fool’s Day. The logo easter egg will not. So if you want to see it, log in today.
Inventory Quality-of-Life Upgrades
This is the update veterans have been waiting for. Two big quality-of-life improvements to inventory management.
Identify All Items in One Click
You can now identify every unidentified item in your inventory with a single button press. It will consume identification kits automatically. No more clicking item by item. This alone will save you real time when cleaning your inventory.
Transfer Crafting Materials in One Click
There’s also a new button that sends all crafting materials from your inventory straight to your Xunlai material storage. One press. Done. If you’ve ever come back from a long farming session with a full inventory of wood, iron, and cloth, you know how much this matters.
These aren’t flashy features. But they’re the kind of improvements that make the game significantly more enjoyable to play day-to-day.
Extra Life Pets Are Here
If you were watching the 2025 Extra Life Live Stream, you earned some pet rewards. Those pets are now findable in-game. You’ll need to track them down in specific outposts, here’s the full list of where to find each one.

The new dungeon is the thing to prioritize, especially if you’re playing in Reforged mode and want Devona to help you in pre-searing and beyond. The inventory upgrades are quality of life that you’ll feel immediately.
