Can you play Guild Wars 2 for free?
Yes! The base game of Guild Wars 2 is completely free. This gives you access to all the professions (except for the Revenant), the original story and more!
Is Guild Wars 2 Buy to Play?
No! Guild Wars 2’s main game is Free to Play. The expansions however require a one time purchase. No subscription required.
Is Guild Wars 2 Pay to Win?
No! There are no purchasable items that give players a significant advantage over others. You can buy items for convenience or purely cosmetic from the Guild Wars 2 Gem Store.
Why is Guild Wars 2 the best MMO?
Mainly because the game is free, it has no subscription fee. The stories and expansions are of high quality and there are no Pay 2 Win (P2W) elements involved.
Next to that, the game has a horizontal progression system and no gear treadmills. This allows new or returning players to quickly get back into the game without them having to grind for new gear or other collectibles.
Is Guild Wars 2 worth playing?
Yes! The base game is free, it still has a significant amount of players and new content gets added on the regular.

Are the Guild Wars 2 expansions free?
No. The expansions require a one time purchase.
Which Guild Wars 2 expansion should you buy?
If you want to follow the story, it is recommended to play the Expansions in chronological order. Start with Heart of Thorns, then Path of Fire and finish with End of Dragons.
However, if you want to play a specific Elite Specialization or visit a particular region then I’d recommend getting the expansion that belongs to that type of content.
Are the Guild Wars 2 Expansions Worth it?
Yes! The expansions add so much extra value in the form of gameplay, new content and enhancements for your current profession. However, I do recommend playing the free version of Guild Wars 2 first. Just to see if you like the game!

What Class/Profession should in play in Guild Wars 2?
Guardian, Necromancer or Ranger are always great professions (classes) to play. They are easy to play and are great at supporting and dealing damage.
To find the best profession for you it is recommended to read more about the professions and Elite Specializations of Guild Wars 2.
What Class/Profession am I?
You can find your current profession by pressing “H” on your keyboard and navigate to the “Equipment” panel. In the top right of this panel you will see your current level and profession.
Which Guild Wars 2 Race am I?
To find the race for your current profession. Head on over to the character selection menu. In the bottom left of your screen you will see the race of your character.
What race should I play?
It does not matter! Pick the one you like most. One race does not grant benefits over another.

Will Guild Wars 2 run on my computer?
Most likely. The game was released in 2012. Most hardware noways has already caught up with the system requirements of Guild Wars 2.
If you want to test your specific system, try a website like PC Game Benchmark to put your hardware to the test.
Will Guild Wars 2 come to consoles?
It is unlikely. There have been rumors about a potential release on consoles for years but these aren’t confirmed.
Does Guild Wars 2 have controller support?
Guild Wars 2 does not have official controller support. There are however many players that managed to play Guild Wars 2 with a controller.
Use potential 3rd party software at your own risk.
When will Guild Wars 2 be on Steam?
Yes! Guild Wars 2 has been on Steam since August 2022!
Will Guild Wars 2 run on a Steam Deck?
Yes! According to many users on Reddit the game runs very well on a Steam Deck.
Are the Guild Wars 2 Servers down?
This is highly unlikely. According to ArenaNet, the Guild Wars 2 servers have a 99.98% uptime.
Guild Wars 2 has a number of servers that are all connected to each other. Even during content updates, the servers rarely go down.
